Kernun Protects from Zero-Day Attack against Firefox

19 Feb 2010

A security flaw in the popular open-source browsers Firefox was published yesterday in the afternoon. It can be misused to run malware remotely at a computer with the Windows operating system and the Firefox browser.

Thanks to the advanced filtering techniques used by the Kernun firewall it is possible to filter the problematic code already at the entry gateway into the internal network and the protected network is therefore total immune to this type of attack.

The discovered flaw and the method of its publishing indicate a new trend, when the discoverer of a flaw gives no time space to the producer of the software to prepare a fix and publishes the error directly on the
Internet.

It is in this environment that the Kernun firewall excels, being able to stop attacks of this type already at the entry point to the internal network, so that the malicious code does not reach the vulnerable Firefox at all.
