The TNS company introduced its data box security solution called Kernun – Secure Box at a press conference in Prague on Thursday, December 3.
The Kernun solution was presented by Roman Pavlik, CEO of TNS. “Our solution provides the user with a guarantee of the top security in the undoubtedly highly sensitive environment of data boxes,” Mr. Pavlik said. “When creating the product, we took into account the real behavior of the common user, who usually has a rather lax attitude towards fulfillment of various security rules. Even a careless user who jots their login information down to a piece of paper and has it stolen will not lose the content of his or her data box, because this information is unusable for the thief when our device is used,” added Mr. Pavlik.
An unauthorized entry into a data box using login information gained due to the user’s improper behavior was presented at the press conference.
The fact that users frequently have such an attitude was confirmed also by Radek Smolik, the security expert of the data box project. “Ninety-nine percent of common users do not abide by the security rules correctly,” said Mr. Smolik. “The presented attack is a classical illustration of this fact, and is therefore feasible.” Mr. Smolik welcomes also the presented Kernun solution. “We welcome a solution that gives even an unknowledgeable user a guaranty that nothing will happen to them even if they do not behave according to the given rules,” said the data box security expert. “We also welcome the fact that the TNS company does not intend to parasitize on the problems connected with the data box security, but tries to practicably solve a problem that actually exists on the user’s side.”
